Interior of Red Owl Collective

Red Owl Collective, a New Kid on the Block

Nestled in the heart of the Hudson Valley, Red Owl Collective is the brainchild of Cindy Hoose who rearranged the letters of Wonderly's to come up with the unique antique mall's name: Red Owl Collective. Cindy envisioned creating a space of various vendors where history and modernity coalesce. When asked what prompted her to start Red Owl Collective she said,

“The seed of the Red Owl was planted when I toured the building in December of 2022. I have sold vintage on and off for 30 years. I have been selling in multi dealer shops for the past 6 years. As a vendor, I appreciate the freedom that this model of business provides. The Red Owl was born out of an opportunity to take my passion to a new level and offer others the opportunity as well”.

Red Owl Collective boasts an eclectic mix of curated vintage items, artisan crafts, and one-of-a-kind treasures from over 50 plus vendors. Each piece tells a story, and the merchant’s commitment to sustainability resonates in their emphasis on repurposing and breathing new life into forgotten relics. It's a haven for those who appreciate the artistry and character that come with every vintage find.

The collective's diverse range of offerings reflects the unique tastes and backgrounds of its founders, creating a space where antique furniture, retro clothing, and quirky collectibles coexist harmoniously. Located in a historic building, Red Owl Collective not only provides an avenue for vintage enthusiasts but also contributes to the cultural richness of Kingston, drawing locals and tourists alike to explore its carefully curated booths and collections. And what can we expect in 2024 from Red Owl?

“With 4 months under our belts I am excited to see Red Owl flourish in all seasons. Destination shopping for Kingston. Red Owl FLEA is in the planning stage for 2024”, Cindy Hoose.

The Edit

“The Edit is our take on the “curiously eccentric”

We don’t focus on any one particular period, but pick and choose items large and small that contribute to that overall aesthetic. A mix of the unique and unexpected, and definitely not cookie cutter (though we have a set for sale currently!) the items are edited through the lens of fashion, interior design and lifestyle”. James and Mark, The Edit

Ware Useful Things

“I was approached to be a part of the shop before the walls were even built. So, of course, I was super flattered & excited. I had never done a booth in an antique mall but I knew it was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up”

Jason Kaminski is the owner of WARE Useful Things for your kitchen, bar, and table; a shop with a focus on restored vintage cookware that began on Etsy in 2020. WARE started with a passion for vintage, an overflowing personal collection, and a background in the food business. The opportunity to have a permanent space allowed WARE to expand it’s offerings and move inventory quicker.

“It means I can buy more, which is the best part! I’m also not restricted to pieces that can be easily shipped in a box'', Jason Kaminski, WARE Useful Things.

Elsewears Odd Apparel

Ryder Sixtus embarked on a transformative journey as a designer with a unique vision, dedicated to reclaiming fabric and crafting one-of-a-kind clothing pieces. Faced with a wardrobe worn thin by the rigors of daily life, Ryder found the inspiration to delve into the world of heavy-duty, sustainable fashion. The initial creation, born out of necessity, marked the inception of a passion that would soon evolve into a flourishing business. Little did Ryder anticipate that a single garment would snowball into a thriving enterprise, fueled by a genuine love for the craft and an unwavering commitment to sustainability.

Intrigued by the unexpected turn of events, Ryder reflected on the improbable transformation from a personal project to a full-fledged business endeavor. The joy derived from designing bespoke garments became a driving force, propelling Ryder forward.

Ryder Sixtus articulated the sentiment, stating, "I joined Red Owl Collective because I saw it as a great way to get some of my work seen by people in person, since a photo can only do so much." This decision not only broadened the reach of Ryder's designs but also facilitated meaningful connections with individuals who shared a passion for sustainable, reclaimed fashion.

Undeterred by the unexpected success, Ryder remained steadfast in the pursuit of the craft, embracing each new creation as an opportunity to contribute to a more conscious and intentional approach to fashion. The journey that began with a simple desire for sturdier clothing had unfolded into a narrative of entrepreneurship, creativity, and a commitment to sustainable design—a testament to Ryder Sixtus's unwavering dedication to the art of fabric reclamation.

“I run a small upcycled workwear brand located in the hudson Valley. I source, design, and create everything myself. I started my business out of necessity”, Ryder Sixtus, Elsewheres odd apparel.
